Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a creative Design Engineer to join LSS’s space‑structures team. You will contribute to the development of large deployable antenna technology for the Conical Imaging Microwave Radiometer on the Copernicus Mission, working on both concept and detailed design of flight hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Propose innovative solutions and perform data‑driven analysis to improve existing designs and influence new products.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed part and assembly drawings, and parts lists using SolidWorks.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and participate in internal and external design reviews.
• Generate detailed BOM tables and collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to define procurement requirements.
• Own design ownership, interact with internal and external partners to optimise interfaces.
• Coordinate with the Analysis team to provide inputs for FEA validation.
• Liaise with the MAIT team to produce manufacturing and assembly work instructions.
• Manage incoming and outgoing design documentation with configuration control using SolidWorks PDM.

Required profile

• Degree (FH/University) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in design engineering on European space or aerospace projects.
• Proven experience in mechanical design of structures, including composite materials and metal components.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3D CAD modelling and detailed drawing creation).
• SolidWorks PDM for configuration management.
• Finite‑element analysis (FEA) coordination.
• Composite material design.
• BOM creation and supply‑chain collaboration.
