Laboratory Technician – Lab Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support R&D and operations at KULT FARM, a startup developing vegan seafood from mycelium fermentation. The role offers the chance to contribute to sustainable food innovation in a fast‑growing, multicultural team based in Barcelona.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general laboratory activities and biomass production following SOPs.
• Participate in pre‑processing and post‑processing steps of fermentation batches.
• Operate equipment and support experimental work of the R&D team.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, occupational safety, food safety, environmental protection, and HACCP requirements.
• Assist cross‑team projects, handle invoices, and manage shipping tasks such as packaging, label printing, and preparing ice packs.
• Procure laboratory consumables and general materials.

Required profile

• Training as a Biology/Chemistry Laboratory Technician, Chemical Technician, or Food Technology Specialist.
• Relevant practical laboratory experience, preferably in the food industry or fermentation.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work effectively in teams.
• Flexibility to work shifts between 6 am and 8 pm as needed.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; Spanish is a plus.
• Comfortable using standard PC applications.
• High initiative, independence, flexibility, team spirit, and conscientiousness.

Required skills

• Laboratory techniques for biomass production and fermentation.
• Operation of laboratory equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge of hygiene, occupational safety, food safety, environmental protection, and HACCP systems.
• Basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office).
