Senior Legal Counsel – Employment Law (Germany)

About the role

JetBrains is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specialized in Employment Law to join its team in Germany. The role provides expert legal support on German labor law and contributes to employment‑related matters across the company’s global operations, working closely with HR and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to HR on complex employee matters, balancing legal requirements with business and reputational considerations.
• Provide strategic legal counsel to Group Counsel – Labor Law, General Counsel, and HR, focusing on German labor law and supporting other jurisdictions as needed.
• Handle sensitive employee cases in Germany, develop legal strategies, review documentation, and support business decisions.
• Draft, review, and improve employment and contractor agreements, HR templates, and policies for Germany and applicable jurisdictions.
• Lead analyses on employment and labor law topics, and contribute to cross‑functional projects such as policy harmonisation across countries.
• Advise HR on remote work, benefits, disciplinary procedures, and workplace safety, especially for German entities.
• Support employee representation structures in Germany, ensuring compliance with local legislation.
• Monitor legislative changes, deliver legal training to internal stakeholders, and represent JetBrains before German regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
• Senior‑level experience in German employment and labor law.
