Shipping Operator – Time Charter Fleet

About the role

SELECT is seeking a commercially driven Shipping Operator to manage and optimise a fleet of 6–10 time‑chartered intermediate DPP and LPG vessels. The role sits at the crossroads of operations, chartering and trading, directly influencing fleet utilisation, freight exposure and P&L.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the TC fleet across internal and external charters.
• Optimise vessel employment, including triangulation, back‑haul opportunities and minimising idle time.
• Run voyage calculations, TCE analysis and freight economics to support commercial decisions.
• Support traders in sourcing and fixing spot and time‑charter tonnage, negotiating charter‑party terms alongside the Head of Shipping.
• Arrange and optimise bunkering – planning, pricing and supplier coordination.
• Handle demurrage, operational claims and contractual risk exposure.
• Liaise with owners, charterers, terminals and agents to ensure smooth execution.
• Identify and capture commercial opportunities to improve margins and reduce costs.

Required profile

• Experience in tanker and/or LPG shipping operations, chartering or shipbroking.
• Strong understanding of charter parties, voyage economics, bunkering and claims handling.
• Commercial mindset with solid negotiation skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, decision‑driven environment.
• Ownership mentality and strong execution focus.
