Controller – Project Finance for Art & Science Projects

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Controller to support the financial management of our project‑based, internationally focused art, science and technology programme. Based in Berlin, you will work closely with the CFO and accounting team to ensure budgets, forecasts and actuals are aligned and compliant with German non‑profit regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Control project budgets, monitor expenditures and ensure they match financial plans.
• Prepare organisation‑wide budget, liquidity and forecast planning, including budget‑to‑actual analyses and scenario modelling.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management reports for the CFO and budget owners, and deliver ad‑hoc analyses for decision‑making.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to align bookkeeping, tax reporting and controlling data.
• Ensure use of funds complies with German non‑profit law and restricted project funding requirements.
• Develop and improve controlling processes and reporting standards.

Required profile

• Degree in business administration, economics or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience in controlling, preferably in project‑based or non‑profit organisations.
• Strong knowledge of financial planning, controlling and accounting.
• Basic understanding of German non‑profit law or willingness to acquire it quickly.
• Fluent German (C1) and good English (B2) communication skills.
• Structured, precise and self‑directed work style with the ability to simplify complex financial information.
• Interest in the intersection of art, science and technology.
