Electrical Engineer – Power Solutions – Opportunity Card

About the role

SPERTON, together with Spreadhire, is looking for experienced Electrical Power Engineers to join leading energy companies in Germany under the Opportunity Card scheme. This position offers the chance to work on advanced power generation, transmission and distribution projects while receiving full visa and relocation support.

Key responsibilities

• Design, analyse and maintain power generation, transmission and distribution systems.
• Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analysis and protection coordination studies.
• Develop electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE and VDE standards and safety regulations.
• Support commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of electrical power installations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on EPC and infrastructure projects to optimise energy efficiency and system reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in power engineering, substations, transformers and switchgear.
• Proficiency in English; German (A2–B1) is a strong advantage.
• Eligibility for the German Opportunity Card (recognised degree or 5+ years experience, sufficient funds).

Required skills

• Power system analysis tools: ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSS®E, MATLAB.
• Load calculations, short‑circuit analysis and protection coordination.
• Electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and VDE standards.
• Experience with LV, MV and HV systems and protection relays.
• Understanding of renewable energy integration (advantage).
