Principal Software Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to shape our technical strategy and drive innovation in building the energy system of the future. The role combines architectural leadership, hands‑on problem solving and mentorship of a high‑performance engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Shape the organisation's technical strategy and innovation efforts.
• Accountable for consistent execution of technical decisions, setting clear direction and holding teams accountable.
• Ensure software architecture aligns closely with product management to support current and future product direction.
• Lead architectural direction to deliver scalable, maintainable, state‑of‑the‑art solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and tackle deep technical challenges with urgency.
• Mentor and challenge engineers to accelerate their professional growth.
• Build and scale a high‑performance tech organisation and engineering culture.
• Embed security and reliability as direct customer value.
• Architect systems and APIs so AI agents operate as first‑class users with machine‑readable contracts and structured errors.
• Drive the organisation's transformation to agentic engineering, reshaping how teams work while keeping humans accountable.

Required profile

• Proven experience shaping technical strategy and leading large‑scale software architecture.
• Strong track record of delivering scalable, maintainable solutions in close partnership with product teams.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems quickly and precisely.
• Experience mentoring engineers and building high‑performance engineering cultures.
• Commitment to embedding security, reliability and AI‑first design principles.
