Senior Software Engineer – Backend & AI Agents

About the role

Rapid Data is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its backend team. You will work on distributed, event‑driven systems that power the core funeral‑technology platform and build AI‑agentic workflows that bring large‑language‑model capabilities to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services in C# across a distributed architecture.
• Implement and operate message‑driven systems using RabbitMQ (or comparable brokers such as Kafka or Azure Service Bus).
• Architect, build and ship AI‑agentic workflows integrated into the core product.
• Collaborate with product, data and platform teams to deliver reliable, well‑tested features.
• Contribute to engineering standards and help raise the technical bar for the team.

Required profile

• Extensive professional experience in backend engineering.
• Strong C# expertise with end‑to‑end ownership of complex services.
• Hands‑on experience building AI‑agentic systems – this is a must.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, async patterns and event‑driven design.
• Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen).
• Previous work integrating AI into customer‑facing workflows.
