Staff Attorney – German Family Reunification

About the role

IRAP Europe is seeking a Staff Attorney with expertise in German law to provide legal representation to refugees pursuing family reunification and humanitarian pathways to Germany. The role is based in Berlin, but most casework will be conducted remotely for clients worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients at all stages of German family reunification and humanitarian visa processes.
• Provide legal guidance to IRAP staff and volunteers on German family reunification matters.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives such as workshops, publications, and advocacy efforts.
• Collaborate with a three‑person team, reporting to the Supervising Attorney for Germany.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with a strong background in German immigration and family law.
• Commitment to refugee rights and experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining high-quality legal standards.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of German family reunification legislation.
• Experience handling humanitarian visa applications.
• Proficiency in legal research and drafting in German and English.
