Early‑Career Software Engineer – Platform & Middleware

About the role

We are looking for an early‑career Software Engineer to join our Munich team and help build the core software platform that powers next‑generation autonomous and intelligent machines. You will work on high‑performance middleware, runtime systems and developer tooling used in safety‑critical, real‑time environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain core components of Apex.AI products, especially Apex.Grace and Apex.Ida.
• Implement middleware features, platform capabilities and runtime infrastructure.
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability of the software stack.
• Debug and resolve complex software and system‑level issues.
• Create automated tests, CI workflows and engineering tools.
• Collaborate with platform, product and application teams to deliver production‑quality software.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and design activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
• Strong foundation in software engineering and computer‑science fundamentals.
• Experience with modern C++ through coursework, internships or personal projects.
• Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages.
• Experience developing software on Linux‑based systems.
• Interest in distributed systems, middleware, runtime or embedded software.
• Excellent debugging, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
