Accountant – Finance & Accounting Team (Germany)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accountant to join the finance and accounting team of a well‑established German company. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring compliance with German accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping in line with German GAAP (HGB).
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general‑ledger balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare VAT returns.
• Assist with internal and external audits, liaising with auditors and tax advisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Fluent German language skills; English is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter are advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Experience with accounting software such as DATEV or SAP.
