Functional Safety Programmer

About the role

RobCo is building the category of Autonomous Industrial Robotics and needs a Functional Safety Programmer to be the technical cornerstone of its safety controller architecture. In this role you will own the embedded C/C++ safety software stack and ensure compliance with the highest international safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test high‑reliability safety software in C/C++ for the next‑generation Intel‑based safety controller.
• Maintain and update the certified safety application on the PLC platform, handling parameter updates, change management and variant support.
• Apply functional safety processes and coding standards throughout the development lifecycle, adhering to ISO 13849‑1, IEC 61508 and MISRA guidelines.
• Create and maintain technical artifacts required for formal certification, including safety requirements, system architecture and verification evidence.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for TÜV and other notified bodies during safety assessments.
• Coordinate technical work with freelancers, contractors and external development partners.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.
• Several years of experience in embedded software development using C and C++.
• Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or ISO 13849‑1.
• Working knowledge of MISRA C/C++ guidelines and static analysis tools.
• Strong ownership mindset and a documentation‑driven engineering approach.
• Very good English skills (German is a plus).
