Mechatronics Development Engineer – Autonomous Robotics

About the role

RobCo is building autonomous industrial robotics and needs a Mechatronics Development Engineer to bridge modular hardware components with real‑world customer applications. You will design, assemble, test and troubleshoot mechatronic subsystems to deliver high‑performance, repeatable automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, wire, configure and validate peripheral devices and modular mechatronic subsystems end‑to‑end.
• Conduct functional testing and verification of hardware setups to ensure peak performance.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and basic software integration issues using an iterative development approach.
• Develop and standardise peripheral devices, moving from custom setups to reliable, repeatable standards.
• Translate complex requirements into actionable work packages for the department or Product Management.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering and customers to deliver scalable solutions.
• Identify hardware limitations or bugs, propose modifications and document procedures for future deployments.

Required profile

• Completed vocational training or degree in Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical field.
• Practical experience assembling, testing or troubleshooting mechatronic or robotic systems.
• Comfort with ambiguity, iterative problem‑solving and trial‑and‑error approaches.
• Holistic engineering mindset and growth orientation towards automation and cross‑department collaboration.
• Very good English skills; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of electrical circuits.
• Sensor integration expertise.
• Ability to read and create wiring diagrams.
• Understanding of mechanical components and their integration.
