BESS Site Manager – Utility‑Scale Energy Storage

About the role

The Site Manager leads the on‑site delivery of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. You will ensure safety, schedule adherence, quality, and successful handover while coordinating all parties involved.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end on‑site delivery, from equipment receipt through installation, cold/hot commissioning, grid connection, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and final handover.
• Serve as CATL’s primary HSE representative, overseeing safety performance of personnel and subcontractors, and coordinating risk assessments, work approvals and inspections.
• Develop and track the site delivery schedule, aligning site personnel, technical experts, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate interfaces among EPC, PCS, EMS, SCADA, substation and other parties, ensuring clear responsibilities and prerequisites.
• Verify installation quality and commissioning readiness, organizing readiness reviews and release gates for each phase.
• Act as the main on‑site customer interface, managing communications, expectations, testing, acceptance and issue resolution.
• Maintain issue registers, action plans, and escalation procedures for major risks.
• Ensure completeness and traceability of acceptance documents, test records and handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Automation, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in power, renewable energy, BESS or large‑scale engineering projects, with at least two years in site management or project delivery.
• Familiarity with the full lifecycle of utility‑scale BESS projects, from receipt to commissioning.
