Head of Finance

About the role

The Head of Finance will lead the finance function of a non‑profit faculty at a leading education institute in Potsdam. Reporting to the CFO, you will shape finance, accounting, controlling and procurement during a period of ambitious growth and transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for finance, accounting, controlling, third‑party funding administration and procurement.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB).
• Lead economic, multi‑year and investment planning, forecasts and board‑meeting preparation.
• Produce management reports, KPIs and financial analyses for executive management and program leaders.
• Advise senior management, professors and program managers on financial, tax and non‑profit law matters.
• Serve as primary contact for auditors, tax advisors and financial authorities.
• Provide professional and disciplinary leadership to a high‑performing finance team, fostering a cooperative and customer‑oriented culture.
• Drive digitalisation, automation and AI‑enabled processes to build a scalable, future‑proof finance function.

Required profile

• University degree in accounting, finance or a related field (master’s preferred).
• Extensive experience in finance leadership, preferably within a non‑profit or academic environment.
• Strong knowledge of German accounting regulations (HGB) and non‑profit financial management.
• Proven ability to develop and lead finance teams and to act as a strategic partner to senior management.
