Political Economic Specialist (Frankfurt)

About the role

The Consulate General Frankfurt seeks a Political Economic Specialist to monitor, analyze, and brief on political and economic developments across its consular district. The role supports both technical and general audiences and contributes to the Global Affairs portfolio covering human rights, refugees, trafficking, and religious freedom.

Key responsibilities

• Track and assess political and economic trends in Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland‑Pfalz, Saarland, and key industries.
• Prepare concise reports and briefings for senior officials, tailored to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Manage the Global Affairs portfolio, providing analysis on human rights, refugee issues, trafficking in persons, and religious freedom.
• Coordinate with U.S. and German government agencies, academic institutions, media, and diplomatic partners.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in political, economic, or legal analysis within a government, diplomatic, academic, media, or comparable organization.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking) and German (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a non‑sensitive Public Trust clearance.
