Security Specialist – Mission Assurance

About the role

The Security Specialist will act as a program manager for one or more of AFRICOM's Mission Assurance lines of effort, including Antiterrorism, Defense Critical Infrastructure, and Counter‑Small Unmanned Air and Missile Threats. This position ensures the protection of critical capabilities, functions, and assets across AFRICOM missions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of assigned programs: risk management, planning, training, exercises, resourcing, and monitoring.
• Synchronize Mission Assurance across AFRICOM missions using an integrated risk management methodology.
• Publish, update, and integrate DoD security and risk management policies.
• Prepare and present briefings to the commander and senior staff.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert, providing technical guidance to subordinate commands and maintaining security data.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance (Tier 5) and eligibility for SCI.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain Country/Theater clearance and comply with drug‑screening requirements.
• Ability to meet the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements and other DoD directives.
• Must possess a valid U.S. passport and be prepared for overseas deployment.
