Senior Engineer – BESS & Grid Projects

About the role

Elements Green Deutschland GmbH is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the technical design and delivery of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and grid connection projects. Based in Hamburg, you will support projects across the full lifecycle, from feasibility studies to ready‑to‑build status and onward to operation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical design of utility‑scale BESS projects from feasibility to “Ready‑to‑Build”.
• Manage the complete MV/HV grid connection process, liaising with DSOs and TSOs and ensuring compliance with VDE‑AR‑N 4110/4120/4130.
• Validate and approve technical concepts, single‑line diagrams (SLDs) and layout designs.
• Create and approve requirement specifications for all components of the electrical balance of plant.
• Prepare decision material for procurement and technology scouting for senior management.
• Implement and maintain technical standards to keep projects audit‑ready for investors and authorities.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related discipline (B.Sc./M.Sc.).
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in renewable‑energy project engineering, with proven BESS or large‑scale PV experience.
• Deep knowledge of German grid codes, permitting processes and technical standards.
• Strong analytical mindset, decisive and solution‑oriented.
• Fluency in German and English.
