Mechanical Design Engineer – Audio (Berlin)

About the role

Join Tesla’s Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team as a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on audio. You will lead the mechanical design of speakers, microphones and related components to deliver studio‑grade sound across Tesla’s vehicle lineup.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with audio engineers to define system architecture and translate it into mechanical solutions.
• Optimize audio components for acoustic performance, size, mass, integration and ease of assembly.
• Model and design plastic, sheet‑metal and die‑cast parts using CATIA.
• Perform structural, tolerance stack‑up and finite‑element analyses, and apply design‑for‑assembly principles.
• Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings and documentation.
• Support prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation.
• Develop engineering and reliability test plans, analyse results and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with suppliers on DFM feedback, tooling development and assembly bring‑up.
• Guide designs from prototype through mass production and deployment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably with acoustic components.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with finite‑element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS).
• Basic understanding of electrical and thermal design fundamentals.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept to mass production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working across regions.
