Sustainable Weed Management & Drone Data Internship

About the role

This 3‑6 month internship (starting May 2026) supports BASF xarvio Digital Farming in developing sustainable weed‑management solutions. You will work with drone imagery and deep‑learning models to improve weed detection for crop protection.

Key responsibilities

• Annotate drone images for agricultural weed‑management applications.
• Review and refine deep‑learning models to increase accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and prepare presentations of findings.
• Support data‑driven research projects within the Crop Protection unit.
• Potentially continue as a working student after the internship.

Required profile

• Enrolled student in plant science, agronomy, or IT.
• Basic agronomic knowledge, preferably in weed management.
• Willingness to relocate to Cologne or commute regularly.
• Strong communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Competent handling of standard IT applications.
• Programming knowledge (any language) is a plus.
