Accountant – Finance & Accounting

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accountant to join a well‑established German company. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring compliance with German accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping in line with German GAAP (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank accounts and general‑ledger balances.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Assist with internal and external audits, liaising with auditors and tax advisors.
• Prepare VAT returns and other statutory financial reports.
• Monitor financial transactions and identify discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Accountant, Financial Accountant or Bookkeeper.
• Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Fluent German language skills; English is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as Bilanzbuchhalter are advantageous.

Required skills

• Experience with DATEV accounting software.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
