Accounting & Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting & Finance Manager to lead our finance function within a fast‑growing testing, inspection and certification services group. The role combines full responsibility for statutory closing under German GAAP with team leadership and active participation in financial controlling and system transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities under German GAAP (HGB).
• Manage general ledger accounting, balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals and ensure audit readiness.
• Lead and develop an accounting team of approximately five FTE, handling task prioritisation, coaching and performance management.
• Oversee project‑based accounting in an engineering/services environment, ensuring correct revenue and cost allocation.
• Contribute to financial controlling (variance analysis, management support) for about 20% of the time.
• Establish and continuously improve internal controls, accounting standards and documentation in line with group and private‑equity requirements.
• Prepare structured reporting packages for the holding organisation.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, HR, operational leadership, external advisors and auditors.
• Drive system and process transformation, including migration from DATEV to Microsoft Business Central.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of professional experience in financial accounting under German GAAP (HGB).
• Proven hands‑on responsibility for monthly closing processes in complex organisational structures.
• Leadership experience with direct responsibility for a multi‑member team.
• Experience in a private‑equity‑driven environment is a strong advantage.
• Fluent German and English (business proficiency).
