Assistant Vice President – Internal Audit (Banking)

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Vice President – Internal Audit to join the internal audit team of a leading global universal bank headquartered in Frankfurt. The role involves planning, executing, and reporting on audits across key banking functions, ensuring robust risk management and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare audit working papers in line with internal standards and the Audit Manual.
• Design sampling strategies and test key controls to meet audit objectives.
• Draft audit recommendations and respond to review points, ensuring documentation accuracy.
• When acting as Auditor in Charge, develop audit planning materials, deliver findings and recommendations, and prepare final audit reports.
• Manage follow‑up and formal closure of audit recommendations, validating implementation of actions.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives and collaborate with EMEA audit teams.

Required profile

• University degree and a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIA, ACCA).
• Strong financial and regulatory knowledge with solid numerical skills.
• Ability to communicate audit findings clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Operational understanding of key banking areas and the risk‑control environment.
• Attention to detail, sound judgment, and capability to recommend appropriate control solutions.
• Previous internal audit experience preferred; exposure to German regulatory risk management highly valued.
