Associate Production Engineering Manager – Cell Formation

About the role

Tesla is looking for an Associate Production Engineering Manager to lead the Cell Formation team at its Gigafactory Berlin‑Brandenburg. You will drive the continuous improvement of high‑throughput cell assembly lines, ensuring they meet the company’s standards for efficiency, quality, safety and cost.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams to refine and optimise high‑volume manufacturing processes.
• Maintain a safety‑first culture and enforce quality standards.
• Collaborate with operations to remove bottlenecks and boost line productivity.
• Analyse validated production data, select appropriate methodologies and implement solutions.
• Allocate personnel and budget resources to achieve departmental goals.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering expertise in process optimisation.
• Propose policy improvements and establish procedures that enhance organisational performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a technical discipline (e.g., mechanical or industrial engineering) or equivalent experience.
• Proven success leading engineering teams in high‑volume manufacturing environments such as battery cells, automotive, semiconductors or consumer electronics.
• Experience with mass‑production metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, cost).
• Strong ability to work under pressure, prioritize conflicting demands and manage risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; German is a plus.
• Commitment to sustainability and adherence to Tesla’s EHS&S policies.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
