Automation Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role

As part of the Global Technology Digitalization & Automation unit, you join an international team driving digitalization and automation initiatives across the global Coatings business. You implement and continuously improve automation solutions across the full system lifecycle, from integration and development through operation and optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software components, including frontend, backend and interfaces, and integrate measurement devices, robots and PLC-controlled systems into digital workflows.
• Evaluate, conceptualize and implement Computer Vision, Machine Learning and AI use cases to make automation more data-driven and intelligent.
• Independently drive automation projects, manage stakeholders and coordinate with global teams.
• Manage requirements for new automation systems and coordinate implementation with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commission automation systems and support system rollouts at local and global sites.

Required profile

• Master's degree in automation engineering, mechatronics or a closely related field.
• Practical experience in industrial automation, software development and system integration.
• Very good German and English.
• Confident use of standard Microsoft Office applications.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge in several of: C++, PLC, motion control, industrial robot programming, Python, Computer Vision, databases (e.g. PostgreSQL), REST APIs (e.g. curl, Bruno), Machine Learning and AI.
