Autonomous Vehicle Safety Operator (Safety Driver)

About the role

We are seeking Autonomous Vehicle Safety Operators (Safety Drivers) to ensure the safe operation of self‑driving cars during testing, pilot programmes and commercial robotaxi services across Europe. You will work closely with engineering, fleet operations and depot teams, monitoring vehicle behaviour and intervening when required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and supervise autonomous vehicles during testing, validation and commercial fleet runs.
• Maintain full situational awareness and take manual control whenever safety protocols demand.
• Complete assigned routes while complying with local traffic laws and company procedures.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of cameras, sensors, mirrors, lighting and overall vehicle condition.
• Report any damage, abnormal behaviour or maintenance issues to depot and technical teams.
• Record disengagements, observations and operational events using company reporting tools.
• Provide structured feedback on vehicle performance, traffic conditions and unusual scenarios.
• Participate in ongoing safety training, certification and public interaction guidelines.

Required profile

• Experienced, responsible drivers with excellent situational awareness.
• Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle class.
• Willingness to follow detailed operational procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with technical and operations staff.
