Avionics Systems Architect – Safety‑Critical Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Architect to lead the engineering of safety‑critical avionics systems for space missions. Based in Bremen, you will act as the primary architect, guiding projects from requirement analysis through validation and delivery, with options for reduced weekly hours and a tailored scope.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical development of safety‑critical avionics subsystems, defining architecture and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ECSS.
• Drive end‑to‑end engineering activities: analyse customer needs, create subsystem requirements, tailor processes, conduct risk analysis, implement, verify and validate solutions.
• Apply deep expertise in functional verification, software engineering, simulation or mission analysis to deliver robust designs.
• Manage complex work packages, guaranteeing delivery on cost, schedule and quality (OCOTOQ).
• Coordinate subcontractors and steer technical trades within proposals, providing accurate cost estimations.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in aerospace, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in avionics architecture for safety‑critical systems, preferably in the space sector.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and work with external partners.
