Back-end Engineer Integration and AI (PHP/Python)

About the role

We are seeking a Back-end Engineer with strong PHP and Python skills to join our integrations team. You will help extend the server back‑end of the Nextcloud platform, adding new authentication, storage, audio/video chat features, and integrating cutting‑edge AI services such as large language models, speech‑to‑text, and image processing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new back‑end features and improve existing ones.
• Integrate AI models and services via Python, APIs, and micro‑services.
• Design and maintain databases and overall system architecture.
• Perform quality assurance and testing for released features.
• Work on project‑based assignments with defined timeframes.

Required profile

• Solid experience with PHP and basic front‑end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Proficiency in Python for AI/ML integrations.
• Experience with at least one modern front‑end framework (VueJS, React, Angular, or Svelte).
• Familiarity with AI/LLM toolkits such as Hugging Face or LangChain.
• Understanding of REST APIs, Docker containerisation, and model deployment workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with speech, vision, or NLP services (e.g., Whisper, OCR, embeddings).
• Comfortable working with open‑source tools and Git/GitHub.
• Independent, reliable, and self‑motivated work style.
