Backend Engineer – Autonomous Vehicles (Berlin)

About the role

We are a fast‑growing European technology company building the software and infrastructure that powers real‑world driverless vehicle operations. As a Backend Engineer you will join a small, high‑ownership team in Berlin, working on services that directly interact with vehicles on public roads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services that support live driverless vehicle operations.
• Develop software that runs on and around the vehicles, handling sensor and vehicle data streams.
• Build internal tooling for engineering teams to analyse vehicle data and improve operational efficiency.
• Create product‑facing web applications and features using modern front‑end technologies.
• Shape the architecture of the platform as the fleet scales, influencing technical decisions across the stack.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and commercial Node.js development.
• Solid foundation in backend, systems, or DevOps engineering.
• Experience taking technical problems from concept through to production.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving environment.
