Backend Engineer (AWS, Python, TypeScript) – Berlin (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Berlin team and help shape the backend of a leading qualitative data analysis platform. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with product, AI, and frontend teams to deliver scalable, high‑performance services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain an AWS‑based backend architecture.
• Develop efficient Lambda functions using modern Python frameworks (Django, Flask or FastAPI).
• Optimize performance and scalability with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB and caching strategies.
• Implement robust testing pipelines (unit, integration, end‑to‑end) and CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Maintain documentation standards using Poetry, Confluence and related tools.
• Manage interfaces between core products, account systems and desktop applications.
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, AI engineers, QA, product managers and UX/UI designers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on backend development experience in Python.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, especially Lambda and S3.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript and familiarity with Boto3.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Comfort with dependency management tools (Poetry, pip, UV) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Background in agile environments (Scrum or Kanban) and test automation.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative attitude.
