Backend Software Engineer

About the role

This role is part of a modern cloud‑native platform used by thousands of developers worldwide. Based in Germany and fully remote, you will design and maintain the backend systems that power critical infrastructure, ensuring high performance, reliability and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for a high‑availability cloud platform.
• Develop and evolve microservices architecture to ensure performance, scalability and fault tolerance.
• Optimize database structures and queries for efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure system resilience, high availability and robust error handling across distributed environments.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps and other stakeholders to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions and code reviews.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, performance tuning and system optimisation.
• Support CI/CD practices and smooth deployment processes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with focus on performance and scalability.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Go, Python or Node.js.
• Experience with relational (SQL) and non‑relational (NoSQL) databases.
• Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Understanding of containerisation and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
