Biology Lab Technician – Fungicide Research (m/f/d)

About the role

Our Cell Biology & Resistance unit investigates fungicide modes of action and resistance mechanisms while identifying new targets for innovative solutions. The position runs from November 2026 to the end of 2027 with possible extension. You will develop molecular methods for resistance detection, handle sequence data, perform bioinformatic analyses, and generate resistant mutants.

Key responsibilities

• Establish new molecular biological methods for detecting fungicide resistance.
• Work with sequence databases, prepare and format relevant sequence information.
• Perform bioinformatic analyses of DNA and protein sequences, interpret results and document findings.
• Generate fungicide‑resistant mutants using targeted and random mutagenesis.
• Maintain laboratory records and ensure data quality.

Required profile

• Completed degree in biology or a comparable qualification.
• Expert knowledge of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry and phytopathology.
• In‑depth theoretical and practical knowledge of bioinformatics and scientific working methods.
• Sound knowledge of fungal and plant cultivation, laboratory procedures and analytical equipment handling.
• Very good German and English language skills.
