Commercial Lead

About the role

John Paul Construction is seeking a Commercial Lead to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of its projects in Germany. The role involves managing valuations, cash‑flow reviews and contract administration while leading a team of surveyors. You will work closely with the Procurement Manager and client representatives to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, interim and final valuations, payment applications and cost reconciliations for contracts, sub‑contractors and suppliers.
• Provide data for regular cash‑flow and contract position reviews.
• Place sub‑contracts in collaboration with the Procurement Manager where required.
• Examine contract documents, identify anomalies and record contractual delays.
• Set and agree interim and final valuation dates with client representatives.
• Produce take‑offs for Estimating, Procurement and Planning departments.
• Prepare final accounts for completed sections, including adjustments, and obtain client agreement.
• Manage, coach and report on contract, assistant and junior surveyors.

Required profile

• 10+ years’ experience, preferably with a main contractor.
• Project experience in construction/civil engineering, especially pharmaceutical and data‑centre projects.
• Chartered or working towards chartership with the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent IT skills.
