Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) Operator

About the role

The Counter‑Unmanned Aircraft System (C‑UAS) Operator provides continuous monitoring and operation of NATO's C‑UAS capability at NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen. Working 24/7 in a rotational shift pattern, the operator detects, identifies, and reports unmanned aircraft activity to protect personnel, aircraft, facilities and mission‑critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all assigned C‑UAS displays and sensor interfaces throughout the shift.
• Detect, classify and assess suspected UAS activity.
• Notify the Security Squadron and International Military Police according to NATO procedures.
• Maintain operational logs, event reports and shift turnover records.
• Support elevated force‑protection conditions, surge operations and participation in drills and exercises.
• Observe electronic‑warfare and jamming procedures while maintaining strict operational security.

Required profile

• Valid NATO or National SECRET security clearance.
• STANAG 6001 English Level 2 or equivalent.
• Ability to work rotating 24/7 shifts and remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent observation and written documentation skills.
• Eligibility to work at NATO installations in Germany.
