Data Engineer – Customer (m/f/d)

About the role

As a Data Engineer focusing on customer data, you will design and harmonise a scalable, international data model that supports BAUHAUS’s digital commerce strategy. You will work in an agile environment, collaborating with architecture, platform and business teams to ensure high‑quality data across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and harmonise a scalable, international data model by analysing existing structures and defining mapping rules between legacy and target systems.
• Establish and oversee data‑governance processes to guarantee data quality, completeness and consistency.
• Define clear ownership models for customer data to ensure accountability across systems and regions.
• Serve as the primary subject‑matter expert for data modelling, data quality and integration design.
• Contribute to internal engineering standards, share innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• At least three years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, building scalable pipelines and data‑warehouse architectures, preferably in cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of the data lifecycle: relational modelling, migration, profiling and harmonisation.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and complex API‑ or event‑based integration landscapes.
• Practical experience implementing data‑governance and GDPR compliance concepts.
• Fluent English; German is a plus but not required.
