Design Engineer – High Voltage Grid Infrastructure

About the role

Our client, a specialist in high‑voltage grid infrastructure expanding into the German market, seeks a Design Engineer to support transmission system operator (TSO) projects from low voltage up to 380 kV, including solar farms and battery storage.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi‑project team reviewing TSO requirements and developing adoptable and private grid connection designs from LV to 110‑380 kV.
• Manage design sub‑contractors and ensure design deliverables meet technical standards and client expectations.
• Conduct site visits with construction teams to support design delivery and resolve on‑site queries.
• Coordinate design review meetings with operations and project managers to ensure buildability and timely delivery.
• Support procurement by specifying equipment and ensuring contract milestones are met.
• Maintain design registers, submit drawings to TSOs/clients, and keep up‑to‑date with health & safety policies.
• Minimise mechanical & electrical construction expenditure wherever possible.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 2–3 years of experience in an engineering contracting or consulting environment, preferably with HV/EHV projects and TSO interaction.
• Fluent German (C1‑native level) and full EU driving licence.
• Knowledge of VDE, IEC, IEEE and CENELEC standards.
• Experience managing drawing registers and design submissions.
