Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join Mercury’s fire protection team in Dresden. The role focuses on designing and coordinating fire protection systems for complex construction projects across sectors such as data centres, life sciences and hyperscale facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and layout fire protection systems to meet LPC, NFPA, FM and VdS criteria.
• Perform sprinkler design, hydraulic calculations and prepare shop drawings.
• Create 3D model coordination with other services using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Produce 2D fire classification block plans, schematics and detailed fire protection drawings (sprinkler, foam, gas, mist, inert gas, special hazard).
• Generate installation, construction and fabrication drawings.
• Attend technical and project meetings on‑site and via Teams.
• Support tender and construction documentation preparation.
• Close out project items and capture lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proficient written and spoken English.
• Full EU driving licence and ability to travel.
• Knowledge of applicable fire protection standards.
• Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
• Minimum four years of experience modelling fire protection systems on European projects.
