Design Engineer – Mission Systems

About the role

Join the Mission Systems Engineering team to lead the mechanical integration of mission equipment on special‑mission aircraft. You will design and develop brackets, fixtures, adapters and structural modifications, focusing on the CA‑1 Europa program and new Mission Pods.

Key responsibilities

• 3D design of brackets, fixtures, adapters and structural parts for mission system integration.
• Mechanical integration of sensors, pods and other mission equipment into the aircraft.
• Design and development of Mission Pods, including carrier systems and aircraft interfaces.
• Modify existing aircraft structures to accommodate new mission equipment.
• Create 3D models, assemblies and technical drawings using Siemens NX.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications, BOMs and change records.
• Collaborate closely with Stress, Systems Engineering, Certification, Production and QA teams.
• Support material selection and manufacturing methods with an emphasis on lightweight design.
• Assist with prototyping, testing and First Article Inspection activities.

Required profile

• Technical training (e.g., certified technician) or university degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience in design engineering, preferably in aviation, defence or lightweight construction.
• Proficient use of CAD software, especially Siemens NX.
• Knowledge of aviation standards such as EASA CS‑23 or AS9100 is a plus.
• Experience with composite (CFRP/GFRP) and/or aluminium structures is a plus.
• Strong technical understanding and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Good command of English; German is a plus.
