Design Engineer – PEM Fuel Cell Stack (Aerospace)

About the role

Join Aerostack, a joint venture between Airbus and an automotive partner, to develop PEM fuel‑cell stacks for aeronautic applications. As a Design Engineer you will focus on the bipolar‑plate CAD design and support the technical development of stack components.

Key responsibilities

• Create and release CAD drawings in line with Aerostack standards and configuration‑management rules.
• Develop advanced, parameterised CAD models, perform mass and volume calculations, and conduct assembly checks.
• Define and execute mechanical analyses (thermal, fluid, structural, electrical) and detailed tolerance calculations.
• Prepare CAD models for CAE simulations and generate Bills of Material (BOM) and manufacturing drawings.
• Apply Aeronautical standards, support configuration management in SAP, and maintain part‑numbering conventions.
• Participate in Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (D‑FMEA, P‑FMEA) to ensure quality and safety.
• Coordinate procurement, manufacturing, and assembly of components, jigs and tools, and support validation & verification activities.
• Collaborate with Component Responsible Engineers, project leads, supply‑chain, cost engineering and quality teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD design (parameterised modelling).
• Mechanical analysis including thermal, fluid, structural and electrical aspects.
• Tolerance calculation and CAE model preparation.
• Experience with SAP for configuration management and BOM creation.
• Knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D‑FMEA) and Process FMEA (P‑FMEA).
