Design Engineer – Shipbuilding & Mechanical Design

About the role

CT Engineering Group is seeking a Design Engineer specialized in shipbuilding and mechanical systems to join our Hamburg or Bremen office. You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to develop detailed designs from concept to hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings for assemblies, foundations, deck equipment, hull components and technical spaces.
• Prepare and update bills of materials (BOMs), piping lists and technical documentation.
• Develop general arrangement layouts, detailed designs, CAM data, isometric drawings and P&ID documentation.
• Design integration, installation, lifting and transport concepts.
• Coordinate technical issues with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
• Produce design review reports, punch lists, as‑built and hand‑over documentation.
• Support factory acceptance tests and commissioning activities.

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related field.
• Professional experience in mechanical design and system integration.
• Fluent business‑level English; German is a plus.
• Structured, self‑reliant working approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter (or comparable CAD/PLM systems).
• Knowledge of DIN, ISO and EN standards relevant to shipbuilding.
• Ability to generate CAM data, isometric drawings and P&ID documentation.
• Experience preparing BOMs, piping lists and technical specifications.
