Developer Experience Engineer

About the role

JustPlay is seeking a Developer Experience Engineer to build and maintain the tools, platforms, and processes that enable our engineering teams to develop, test, and ship software faster and more reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Own and operate multi‑tenant GKE clusters, ensuring scalability, reliability and a smooth developer experience.
• Implement and maintain an Istio service mesh for secure communication, traffic management and observability.
• Manage GCP infrastructure as code, delivering reusable and scalable solutions.
• Drive GitOps practices and optimise the ArgoCD ecosystem for automated deployments.
• Standardise deployment workflows using Helm, Kustomize and internal templates.
• Build and enhance self‑service platforms (e.g., Backstage) for provisioning environments, databases and access.
• Provide robust observability tools – dashboards, logging and tracing – for autonomous troubleshooting.
• Partner with engineering teams to continuously improve platform adoption and developer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, deploying and maintaining Google Kubernetes Engine clusters in a multi‑tenant setting.
• Strong knowledge of service‑mesh technologies, especially Istio.
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code on Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience building GitOps pipelines with ArgoCD or similar tools.
• Ability to create and maintain reusable deployment templates (Helm, Kustomize, etc.).
