Director, Germany Office

About the role

Transport & Environment is seeking a dynamic leader to head its German office in Berlin. The Director will steer the organisation’s strategy to accelerate the transition to zero‑emission transport across Germany and the EU, working closely with members, policymakers and industry partners.

Key responsibilities

• Represent T&E at the highest political level and across media channels (print, digital, radio, TV).
• Lead, inspire and develop the German team using an inclusive leadership style.
• Maintain deep knowledge of German transport policy and regulatory processes.
• Oversee office operations, financial management and HR responsibilities.
• Build and nurture alliances with NGOs, industry, funders and other stakeholders.
• Develop and implement a national strategy for transport decarbonisation aligned with T&E’s global goals.
• Drive fundraising efforts and expand funding sources in Germany.
• Act as a public advocate on LinkedIn and other platforms to raise T&E’s profile.

Required profile

• At least ten years of relevant experience in transport, climate advocacy or related fields.
• Proven track record of influencing policy at national or EU level.
• Strong network within German public policy, NGOs and progressive industry.
• Excellent communication and media handling skills.
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team and manage budgets.
