Doctoral Researcher in Electoral Behavior, Inequality & Climate Policy

About the role

The University of Konstanz seeks a part‑time Doctoral Researcher to join the Juniorprofessor Lukas Rudolph’s working group. The position is embedded in a DFG‑funded project investigating how spatial inequality and green infrastructure shape local electoral behaviour and climate policy support.

Key responsibilities

• Digitise historical candidate vote data in cooperation with the Bavarian State Statistical Office.
• Analyse the impact of spatial inequalities and green projects on voting patterns across time and space.
• Design and implement survey experiments related to green‑infrastructure conflicts in Bavaria.
• Contribute to the broader research project while developing an independent dissertation within the “Inequality Research” specialization.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in political science, sociology, economics or a related field (completion by September 2026).
• Strong training in quantitative methods; experience with causal inference or survey experiments is a plus.
• Interest in electoral behaviour, political representation, spatial inequality and climate‑policy issues.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata or Python.
