Electrical Engineer – Semiconductor Industry

About the role

As an Electrical Engineer in Applied Materials’ development department, you will design, modify and troubleshoot electrical and electronic assemblies, layouts, schematics and drawings that advance our semiconductor and display equipment. The focus is on creating electronic components that control the electron‑optical systems of our devices, developing new circuits, system‑control programs and specifying external electronics and software.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement test stands and methods for analog and digital electronics used in electron‑beam inspection systems, collaborating with physicists, designers and system engineers.
• Plan and implement electronics for the operation of complex electron‑optical systems.
• Specify, manage projects and accept external hardware and software components.
• Set up prototypes to test and evaluate new developments.
• Create documentation for suppliers and manufacturing.
• Handle change management, including BOM definition and obsolescence tracking.

Required profile

• University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field.
• Experience designing precision electronics such as current/voltage sources, low‑noise amplifiers, raster and imaging systems.
• Knowledge of high‑voltage supply specification up to 30 kV.
• Ability to design digital control electronics and implement IEC, SEMI and UL standards.
• Proficiency in prototype testing, troubleshooting and control‑software development including user interfaces.
• Fluent in German and English.
