Embedded Software Engineer – Flight Control Systems

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Flight Control Software department in Manching. You will work on safety‑critical real‑time software for both manned and unmanned air vehicles, contributing to programmes such as Eurofighter and Eurodrone.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test safety‑critical real‑time software within an agile team.
• Develop embedded applications and low‑level platform software for Flight Control Computers.
• Conduct software reviews, produce documentation, and define software architecture.
• Support planning of software increments and contribute to design definition and improvement.
• Analyse stakeholder needs, write and allocate requirements, manage changes and verify implementation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Strong passion for software development and ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Embedded systems software development and low‑level platform programming.
• Knowledge of processor architectures for safety‑critical computing.
• Hardware/software interface definition.
• Experience with programming standards and model‑based system design (data‑flow and state‑machine diagrams).
• Proficiency with SCADE, automated code generation, and requirements engineering.
• Familiarity with safety‑critical standards such as DO‑178C (ED‑12C) and ED‑218.
