Embedded Software Engineer – Safety‑Critical Systems

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join the newly created Highly Integrated Systems (HIS) domain within the Systems Centre of Competence. You will work on safety‑critical software for next‑generation unmanned aerial vehicles, shaping architectures from concept to certification.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, implement, integrate and test safety‑critical platform software using C in an agile team.
• Drive low‑level development, including microprocessor bring‑up, Board Support Package (BSP) adaptation and hardware‑software integration.
• Configure, develop and optimise Real‑Time Operating Systems (e.g., ARINC 653) for multi‑core environments with strict time and space partitioning.
• Author lifecycle artefacts (PSAC, SDP, SVP) and maintain full bidirectional requirement traceability.
• Define and execute end‑to‑end operational test scenarios on Multisystem Integration Test RIGs.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in embedded software development.
• Proven expertise with safety‑critical standards such as DO‑178C and Integrated Modular Avionics (e.g., DO‑297).
