English Language & Literature Teacher (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced English Language and Literature teacher to join the International School Groningen on a part‑time basis. The successful candidate will inspire students aged 11‑18 to develop strong reading, writing and speaking skills while preparing them for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years and Diploma programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English language and literature lessons that align with the IB curriculum.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation.
• Collaborate with colleagues across subjects to integrate interdisciplinary projects.
• Participate in school meetings, parent evenings and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Qualified secondary‑education teacher in the Netherlands (2e graads) or equivalent foreign qualification.
• Proven experience teaching English language and literature, preferably within the IB framework.
• Native‑level proficiency in English (C2).
• Strong motivation to work in an intercultural, international school setting.

Required skills

• Ability to design curriculum and lesson plans for secondary students.
• Competence in assessing student work and reporting outcomes.
• Effective classroom management and communication skills.
