Environmental Operations Manager

About the role

Join Zalando's Sustainability and Compliance team to lead European regulatory compliance for product waste streams, including packaging, electronics, batteries and textiles. You will combine data‑driven analysis with stakeholder management to develop innovative compliance solutions and support the transition to circular business models.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end compliance reporting and regulatory tracking across European markets for multiple waste streams.
• Transform complex waste and sales datasets into actionable insights, building models to track volumes, predict fee structures and optimise compliance costs.
• Partner with logistics, product, legal and external Producer Responsibility Organisations to embed sustainable compliance mechanisms into core workflows.
• Lead the implementation of scalable digital tools and reporting frameworks supporting circular economy initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong background in data analytics and data management, with proven experience building complex reports and analytical models.
• Solid understanding of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks and European environmental compliance requirements.
• Commitment to environmental responsibility and passion for embedding sustainable practices in large‑scale operations.
• Excellent cross‑functional stakeholder management skills, able to translate regulatory and technical data for diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EPR regulatory frameworks in Europe.
