Export & Agency Finance Transaction Banking Specialist III

About the role

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking is seeking a motivated member for its Export Finance team in Frankfurt. The specialist will support the #1 Export Credit Agency (ECA) franchise in Europe, originating and structuring ECA‑backed and agency‑supported financing transactions for cross‑border trade and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and originate ECA‑backed and agency financing opportunities across sectors such as infrastructure, energy and transportation.
• Negotiate term sheets and prepare credit memos and internal approval documentation.
• Contribute to business strategy, pipeline development and product innovation.
• Track market trends, regulatory developments and changes in ECA programmes.
• Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, exporters, sponsors and financial institutions.
• Build and sustain contacts with export credit agencies (e.g., Euler Hermes, SERV, OeKB) and multilateral institutions (e.g., KfW).
• Support end‑to‑end execution of complex buyer credits, supplier credits, guarantees and insurance up to financial close, coordinating with risk, legal and compliance teams.
• Act as primary liaison between clients, ECAs, legal counsel and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong commercial mindset with experience in export finance or transaction banking.
• Proactive approach to risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with corporate clients, ECAs and multilateral partners.
• Ability to work collaboratively across risk, legal and compliance functions.
