Finance Director

About the role

Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management is seeking a Finance Director to lead the finance agenda of its growing international maritime business. Based in Hamburg, you will work closely with senior leadership, shareholders and shared services to strengthen financial insight, drive operational improvement and build a high‑performing finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead FP&A activities including planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance follow‑up.
• Ensure timely, accurate and compliant financial reporting under German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS.
• Oversee tax, compliance, liquidity and cash‑flow management.
• Drive transparency through robust reporting, controlling and KPI frameworks.
• Partner with Shared Service Centers to lead continuous improvement, digitalisation and automation.
• Act as a trusted business partner to senior management and shareholders.
• Develop and lead international accounting and finance teams.
• Maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisers and other external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Proven senior finance leadership experience in an international environment.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting under German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS.
• Solid understanding of tax, compliance, liquidity and corporate finance processes.
• Experience working with Shared Service Centers and matrix organisations.
• Strategic, hands‑on and results‑oriented approach.
• Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
